THAI KIDS have a chance to be part of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro later this year thanks to McDonald’s, which is once again hosting a video contest to select the lucky youngsters who will be boarding a plane for Brazil.

The young McDonald’s ambassadors will experience athletic events and meet up with some of the world’s all-time greatest Olympians while sharing the spirit of friendship with kids from around the world and learning about the lifestyle and culture of their Brazilian hosts.

“McDonald’s has been supporting both local and international sports events for a long time, especially the World Cup and the Olympic Games,” says Petcharat Uthaisang, chief marketing officer of McThai.

“The upcoming Games will mark the first time we will take kids from around the world to participate in the opening ceremony. This really is a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

McDonald’s has been serving hamburgers to American athletes for 48 years, since the Olympic Games were held in Mexico City back in 1968.

“Thank you McDonald’s for giving me the privilege of a ringside seat at the Olympic Games 2012 in England, as many sport spectators paid for very expensive tickets. I was impressed by warm welcome from the McDonald’s team who took a good care of us and I really enjoyed visiting many tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping centres. It was a fun and exciting experience,” says Kongpop “Bright” Suputipong, who was selected to travel to the last Games.

“I learned so much from the programme and made many new friends from around the world. I was so excited to watch athletes breaking world records in London. Thank you McDonald’s for offering me such a great opportunity,” adds another winner, Chiratna “Bothy” Hongsakorn.

“I had a great seat in the Olympic park and I also got to visit the biggest McDonald’s in the athlete’s village,” says Natticha “Fond” Chantarawarilekha.

Winners of this year’s competition will each receive a round-trip ticket to Brazil plus meals and accommodation during the seven-day, four-night trip, on which they will be accompanied by one parent.
