Today, Thai lovers of fine jewellery can make their way to Emporium shopping centre and visit the new home of Van Cleef & Arpels, which opened recently with an exclusive party attended by well-heeled celebrities and socialites.
On hand to welcome guests were Van Cleef & Arpels president and CEO Nicolas Bos, Asia-Pacific president Catherine Renier and Southeast Asia managing director Elise Gonnet-Pon. They were joined by Muang Thai Insurance chief executive Nualphan Lamsam, oozing Hollywood red carpet glamour in a long strapless gown.
French high society has been infatuated with Van Cleef & Arpels since it opened its doors at 22 Place Vendome in 1906, following the marriage of Estelle Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef in 1895. Over the years, the brand has created a number of signature collections, such as the Alhambra motif, the lucky-charm motif that symbolises luck, health, fortune and love, the Zip necklace, the design of which was credited to the Duchess of Windsor, and the Pierres de Caractere collection created to mark the maison’s centenary.
To celebrate the opening, more than 40 creations epitomising the legendary allure and spirit of the maison were presented, including the iconic Zip necklace, the Ballerina clip, the Maximus clip inspired by Jules Verne’s novel, the legendary Caresse d’Eole Fairy clip and the Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux timepiece.
