AFTER A break that’s lasted two years and had many wondering whether it would ever come back, Overlove Festival – the joint venture between Media Wrap and Silverlake Entertainment – is now all set to make a return.
Taking place later this month at Silverlake Lawn, the most attractive spot of Silverlake Vineyard in Pattaya, the 2016 edition has picked “Love Party” as its theme.
“The last two festivals focused on sweet love songs but this time we want to make it more like a party. With the political and economic situation these days, everyone needs to have fun,” said Suriyane Tantiyanon, marketing manager of Silverlake Vineyard and president of Silverlake Entertainment during the recent press conference at Hard Rock Cafe.
Among the artists taking to the stage are Mild, Lipta, Polycat, Jetset’er, Slot Machine and Scrubb, all of whom have been asked to play sets featuring at least 70 per cent fast-paced tunes.
“This will be our second time at the Silverlake Overlove Festival,” said Ratana Chanprasit, Polycat’s singer. “It’s always a challenge for us to motivate the audience to get up and dance. We have some ideas for our set list though and we believe that everybody will enjoy our show.”
“Jetset’er was worried at first because the band tends to have more ballads that up-tempo numbers in its repertoire but they’ve said they will create a medley,” says Suriyane.
” I’m not worried about Mild and Lipta, who often perform medleys anyway, while Slot Machine and Scrubb always generate excitement and have people dancing. Each of the bands will play for an hour and in between the audience will be entertained by remixes and EDM spun by a DJ. There’ll be non-stop music and a party atmosphere.
“We’ve purposely selected these artists as they have large fan followings and put on exciting shows.”
Suriyane adds that he expects the festival to attract about 5,000 people, as many as the two previous events.
“It’s a great location and I think the party theme will appeal to fans,” he says.
