AN ENTRY LEVEL 4G smartphone from Lenovo under the Moto brand, the Moto G Turbo Edition is waterproof and dustproof and boasts both fast battery recharging and a good quality camera.

It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor running at 1.5GHz and is equipped with two gigabytes of working memory or RAM. It has 16 GB of internal storage, which is expandable with a microSD card to 32 GB.

The Moto G runs on the pure edition of the latest Google Android 6.0, codenamed Marshmallow and this also contributes to its good |performance.

I found the touch screen and menus responsive and played games and video files without any problems.

The 5-inch display has 1280 x 720-pixel resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Moto G comes with 2470 mAh battery with a TurboPower feature that allows you to replenish the battery for six hours of use with a 15-minute charge.

The smartphone is designed for tough use as it complies with the IP67 rating, meaning it can be submerged at a depth of one-metre albeit for no more than 30 minutes.

The Moto G comes with a good quality main camera with 13-megapixel resolution and f/2.0 aperture. The camera is enhanced with software to avoid shutter lag and supports burst mode. You capture photos by tapping the screen to focus. The front camera has 5-megapixel resolution and f/2/2 aperture.

During the test, I found that the main camera captured good quality photos especially in well-lit environments.

The Moto G supports LTE 4G data connection. It has two micro SIM slots with an easy-to-use SIM management function, which allowed me to quickly set up one SIM for voice calls and another for data connection.

I tested the connection on TrueMove H’s LTE network and I found that it had good connection speed. My snapshots were backed up to my Google Drive cloud storage in no time.

I measured the connection speed using the Ookla speedtest app and found that the Moto G achieved a download speed of 43.69 Mbps and an upload speed of 20.81 Mbps. Do bear in mind though that connection speeds depend on the location where the speeds are measured and the connection speed of the servers on which the test is performed.

Moto G Turbo Edition has a suggested retail price of Bt8,290 and is available exclusively from TrueMove H. You can get Bt3,000 discount if you subscribe to a new number or change from a prepaid to a monthly plan and subscribe to the 4G+ Super Smart package at Bt499 for at least six months with a three-month advance payment.
