JAMBA JUICE, a US-based bistro chain selling healthy drinks, had an astounding introduction to Bangkok last week with not just the American, Australian, South Korean and Philippines ambassadors on hand for the opening but also Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The smoothie is made with fruit from royal-project farms, including tamarind and longan, and American peaches, and proceeds from sales will initially go to the Princess’ charitable projects.
The grand welcome for Jamba Juice – at the Korean restaurant Bulgogi Brothers in the EmQuartier’s Helix Building – coincided with the sixth anniversary of the King Food Group, which manages the Thai franchises of Bulgogi Brothers, Krispy Kreme, Cinnabon, Pie Face and IHOP, as well as Jamba Juice.
Group president Ausanee Mahagitsiri Leonio greeted the Princess and invited her to draw new designs for Krispy Kreme doughnuts to commemorate her recent birthday. She also selected ingredients for khao tang pad kai to be served at a Thai restaurant the group is opening soon.
The Princess decorated toppings for Pie Face pies in the form of the iconic Thai smile and watched Korean dishes being cooked.
Present to greet the Princess were Suvimol and Payudh Mahagitsiri, Suthanya Boonsoong, ML Piyapas Bhironbhakdi and Poruethai Narongdej, Praweenooch Kitiwatbumroong, Thawanrat Hosajakul, Natprapa Choonhavan, Pattamavadee Sujaritkun, Preeyamon Thanavisuth, Pimprapat Snidvongs Na Ayudhaya and Pecharakorn Vacharaphol and Tanaseak Yongsuphamongkol.
“The company’s vision all started with her commitment to bring together delicious foods from around the world for Thais to enjoy, at reasonable prices,” Ausanee explained.
“We started with Krispy Kreme, followed by Cinnabon, which has cinnamon rolls from the US, Bulgogi Brothers for Korean barbecue, Pie Face with pies from Australia, and most recently Jamba Juice, which will be opening at Siam Paragon in August, and IHOP pancakes, opening this year as well.”
Jamba Juice originated in California in 1990 and claims to be “the world leader in made-to-order smoothies and freshly squeezed juices” thanks to the use of fruit, vegetables other nourishing ingredients and the absence of artificial flavours, colours and preservatives.
On offer are Smoothies + Boost, which include sherbet, Greek yoghurt and pumpkin seeds; Freshly Squeezed Juice; and Energy Bowl, which is low-calorie, high-energy food like fruit mixes and granola.
IHOP is the International House of Pancakes, a chain of family restaurants founded more than 50 years ago. It also serves crepes, waffles, steaks and burgers.
